Scheduled Dates: February 14-28, 2010

Workshop Hightlights (Based on tentative schedule - subject to change with the weather)

  • (3) days at Monkey park in Mountains of Honshu
  • (4) days photographing Red-Crown Cranes in Hokkaido
  • (4) days photographing Stellar’s Sea Eagles in Hokkaido

The tour will take a maximum of 12 guests and be led by two American guides and one Japanese guide. Photographer Steve Freno has been to Japan 7 times in the last 11 years and has co-led this trip with Roy Toft 4 times. Photographer Roy Toft has done 6 trips to Japan. Our Japanese guide is a well know photographer and naturalist in Japan and has guided this tour five years. You will not find a better or more experienced group of leaders!

Itinerary

Japan's Winter Wildlife Photography WorkshopFeb. 14: All guests arrive at Narita Airport and stay at Holiday Inn Narita.

Feb. 15: Drive up the trail head of Monkey Park by a bus. Stay at the lodge near Monkey Park.

Feb. 16: All day photography at Monkey Park. Stay at the lodge near Monkey Park.

Feb. 17: All day photography at Monkey Park. Stay at the lodge near Monkey Park.

Feb. 18: All day photography at Monkey Park. Stay at the lodge near Monkey Park.

Feb. 19: Drive to Tokyo by a bus. Stay at Hotel in Tokyo.

Japan's Winter Wildlife Photography WorkshopFeb. 20: Fly from Haneda to Kushiro. On the afternoon, we visit Akan feeding station for 2 o'clock feeding. Stay at Tsurui.

Feb. 21: Crane photography all day. Stay at Tsurui.

Feb. 22: Crane photography all day. Stay at Tsurui.

Feb. 23: Crane photography in the morning. 4 hours Drive to Rausu in the afternoon.

Feb. 24: Charter/Tour Boat for Eagle Photography. We will be able to have 2 charter or 1 charter/1 tour trips during our stay. (Swan photography if the ice and wind condition is not allowed.) Stay at Rausu.

Feb. 25: Charter/Tour Boat for Eagle Photography. Stay at Rausu.

Feb. 26: Charter/Tour Boat for Eagle Photography. Stay at Rausu.

We also plan on spending one evening while near Rausu photographing the magnificent and endangered Blankston’s Fish Owl. More details will be given regarding this rare photographic opportunity.

Feb. 27: Tour Boat for Eagle Photography. Fly back to Haneda Airport and move to Narita Airport by a bus. All guests have to stay at Holiday Inn Narita.

Feb 28: Connect to our International flights.

$2,500 deposit is due 6 months out from trip and balance due 90 days out from start of trip.

Deposit is non-refundable, First $2,500 is fully refundable until 90 days out. Within 90 days of trip, non-refundable unless replacement is found.
