Camping with Bears in Alaska

Camping with Bears in Alaska Photography Workshop5-Day Bear Viewing Photography Workshop at Brooks Camp in Katmai National Park

Scheduled Dates: September 5-11, 2010 - FULL!

Workshop Leader: Roy Toft
Workshop Co-Leader: Professional Photographer Mark Garbutt (www.garbuttphoto.com)

From a workshop participant: "I have participated in several Photo Workshops of which have all been unique and special. The passion I feel when I am in nature and behind my camera is hard to put into words. Working with Roy and experiencing his passion for nature and wildlife photography was both fun and exhilarating. Alaska is beyond special.....truly remote, nature untouched, beautiful vistas, with incredible bears!
I hope that the knowledge I gained in Alaska will allow me to help share the message of how important it is to preserve the habitat of these glorious creatures. I thank the bears for allowing me to share a brief part of their world and for allowing me to capture them and their habitat in images that I can share with others. The Spirit of Katmai has made an indelible impression on my life and I know that I will visit here again."

Camping with Bears in Alaska Photography WorkshopWorkshop Description

Brooks Camp, in a beautifully scenic area of Katmai National Park, is an outstanding location for photographers! Photographers can get exceptionally close to the bears and to stay with a good photographic situation for an extended period of time. This week should provide us with great opportunities to photograph healthy, fat bears fishing and eating salmon, including mother bears with cubs and large boars (males). The bears should be fishing for salmon in the rivers and creeks, providing lots of action shots. The action situations we will encounter are ideally suited for all levels of photographers.
